FACT BASED TRIVIA ABOUT THE FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL

THERE IS A SAYING THAT WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW, DEFEATS YOU.. FORGET ALL THIS DELIBERATE COMMENTS FROM CERTAIN GROUPS FOLLOWING PPPRA'S ANNOUNCEMENT OF FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL ALL AIMED AT HEATING UP THE POLITY; FORGET ALL THOSE THAT WOULD JUST JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON AND SAY "ÄH JONATHAN DON KILL US" AND EVEN MUCH MORE THOSE THAT WILL START SINGING "GOVT HAS DONE WELL IN FS REMOVAL"

RATHER I ASK THAT WE JUST PAUSE FOR A MOMENT AND EXAMINE SOME SALIENT (ALBEIT TRIVIAL)
POINTS TO BRING THIS ISSUE MORE TO THE VOX POPULI DOMAIN......FICTION VERSUS FACTS ABOUT THE SUBSIDY REMOVAL

:It is a fallacy when people say the subsidy removal is evident of government's insensitivity and therefore a deliberate ploy to bring pain and suffering on the masses. If anything, it will be a case of "THE RICH ALSO CRIES"

FACT 1. The subsidy affects only PMS and most mass transit vehicles are powered by diesel that hitherto had no subsidy on it.. last time we looked Diesel was selling in the hundreds range.. therefore it is unlikely that the anticipated hike in transport prices may not be an issue.

FACT 2: For how much longer will any sane Nigerian sit back and have our commonwealth shared abroad to neighbouring west coast states by the so called FAT Cats AKA The cabal ,who purchase the subsidised PMS, take them out to the west coast to be bought at prices that afford them incredulous margins. When such subsidies could be better applied to other sectors of the Economy.

FACT 3:If you look at it objectively, those that will cry most at the removal AS I EARLIER STATED will be the rich..With the number of fleet some of them have (I am not even talking about politicians or government holders here because I would expect that in running a leaner government all such priviledges must be withdrawn and maybe monetized so they can feel the pinch. Remember when houses where taken from some and drivers withdrawn and instead monies given; how many employed more than one driver or lived in a house that they couldn't maintain..anyway I digress). So for these set of people it will be a case of using your tongue to count ones teeth and would inadvertently see the drastic reduction of overtly ostentatious living....If anything austerity measures will enter the dictionary of the so called RICH..
