OGOCHUCKWU, THE TRUE STORY: A CASE OF TOO LITTLE TOO LATE?

Two reasons and Two reasons only did I decide to visit the Nairaland link that was posted in a thread of one of my posts by someone who felt I had to read Kevin's defence. Before I go on to state the reasons, I crave your indulgence to humour me as I vent a bit. Honestly, when I read it on NL, I assumed  it was originally posted on the site, not until much later did I discover that it was culled from an exact replica of the first website that broke the story. This new website http://www.ogorip.net/blog.html with a picture of the pregnant and radiant Ogo smiling; was obviously hosted for the singular purpose of telling the World Ogo's husband Side of the Story.  In my opinion, this expose is akin to  "Medicine after Death" No pun intended please; I may be wrong, but I think it would have seemed more appropriate and well intentioned, if it was written by the 'grieving' husband instead of  a proxy and no less a Lawyer, who didn't hesitate to inform us several times through out her 'epistle' how close she  is to the family and how much Ogo was loved by her husband; how Ogo's sisters where the Architects of her woes in her husband's house and of course the one that sent me into throes of laughter- how much Kevin had spent in the course of his late wife's medical bill 80 million Naira. Imagine!

I was sort of taken aback at the end of the 'real story' because the way she was going, I had expected some legal jargon at the end with a reprimand and stern warning for all to desist from making  further comments on this issue or stand the risk of being slammed with legal action. I wonder what the Charges would be in such a case.
Our word against his or his dead wife who isn't here to really tell us what happened?

Oh! by the time I reached the comments box of the site, I actually started feeling sorry for this young man who in my opinion should have just left well alone. He would  have simply  maintained his silence and if  he was as blameless in all of these as Madam Barrister had claimed, he would have been ultimately vindicated one way or the other. This post below from someone going by the nickname Eket Person was the reason I pitied him, because he had certainly shot himself in the foot if he did give his consent to Lady Lawyer's Penmanship:

(3 hours ago) eket person said:
"Well Mr kevin is a jolly chubby friendly guy who loves his wife and other women. i can say that first hand. so for this new story, mrs barrister, not to add his womanizing attitude hmmm get as e bi. all this loosed gurls in eket he takes to villa marina hotel or belano etc or is it my friend he told he told dat he is not married plsssss. Fine the first story was toooo bad of the person who wrote it. but it is 50 percent possible that there is an atom of truth. and this new story also shows that there is also 50 percent an atom of truth. they fight a lot for a fact but tell me how many married pple dont. I believe no one will ever kn the truth. I do not think ogo will like d fact that this story is out there. Come on sisters of ogo in even in death u still want to interfer in the marriage. Home wreckers is wat de shud tag on ur faces. I kn how you guys influenced the marriage. My sister said dis my sister said that WTF. Barrister ur story wud av sold well if only u stated d real kevin and not all the muchy muchy muchy husband sweet sweet thingy. in conclusion the land of eket is ruled by marine spirits whose main operation is to destroy marriages and this is not the first identical story happening in that town, the last one was last yr a staff of mobil. guess the cash and cheap dirty gurls are driving u guys crazy while ur wivies pray for u. kevin hmmm my condolence but u shud av handled ur marriage well. MEN U R THE HEAD OF THE HOUSE WITH YOUR WIFE BEING THE CROWN ON THAT HEAD AND WHEN THE CROWN IS LOST OR FALLS YOU ARE NOTHING, A GONER"
So you can understand why I wasn't disappointed that I decided to visit the link for these two reasons.

Reason 1. In the interest of "Fair Hearing" that would afford me the opportunity to read his side to get a balanced view that will effectively inform what my POINT OF VIEW on the matter is.

Reason 2. For the benefit of the two Children she left behind.  No doubt there would be concerted efforts to protect and insulate them in the face of all of these, however, it would be foolhardy for anyone to think that years from now they won't stumble on their mother's 'Story' and 'Letter' to their Dad somewhere on the Web. So I wanted to see what Kevin had to say about their mother who wouldn't be able to defend herself. I must admit that I can't fault Madam Lawyer for hinting at a special "bond and love" between the parents as this will be reassuring to the impressionable minds of the Children as they grow older.

It is obvious that many people have read the Story and some are already caught up in arguments as to who the real culprit is in the matter of Ogo's demise. I CALL THIS A TOTAL WASTE OF ENERGY. As for me, I remain resolute in my decision to stay the course. I remain convinced as I was that moment I read 'her story' that this goes beyond Ogo. It is sad no doubt; but She is Dead and Buried and any chance or hope of knowing the REAL STORY died with her. No matter how well intentioned the authors of the two Ogo Stories are, nobody can ever know the truth except Ogo and her husband who lived it first hand and now we shall never know.
.
The lines are blurred for me and I don't care for whether the story is true or false; all that matters, is the fact that the Ogo Story brought to the fore the reality of Domestic and Spousal Violence/abuse that had for so long been consigned to the back burner.
We were all sufficiently enraged to Speak UP against it..In much the same way, I am persuaded that the many women who suffer all forms of Abuse everyday have been encouraged to find their VOICE and Break the Walls of Silence.

STAY ROOTED

  2. MyNeneh, honestly fighting over which version is true is a waste of time like you said. The point is this woman is dead and he is not. For me, that sways the case in her favour cos what else can I give her. Her life back? No one can do that, so instead I give her my vote. Since her hubby has his life. Might not make sense to many but really don't care. I entrust her kids to God and pray some woman, even just one, will learn from Ogo's story, fact or fiction.
