Its no longer News that a 54 year old Nigerian Bimbo Oyewole aka 'Dead man guarding' has been arrested in the US for using the name of a murder victim (Jerry Thomas) for the past twenty years to hide his status as an illegal immigrant. During the period, Oyewole rose from the position of a Security Officer to Security Supervisor undetected at the Newark Liberty international, one of the busiest Airports in the US. What I can't get out of my head is how silly Bimbo is for obviously failing to think of the possibility of the long arms of the law catching up with him at some point. Crime is bad no doubt, but in my opinion this is as stupid as it is bizarre.This fellow must be a "dundee united"; or maybe its a simple case of bad Karma (what with the way he was discovered) so it is safe to say, Jerry Thomas 'wanted' his name back; because not only is the theft of a dead man's identity just plain morbid; the matter is bad enough when one reads that Bimbo started using the identity the same year the man was murdered in Queens, New York and Alas! made even worse when a search of public records found evidence of a Bimbo Oyewole and a Jerry Thomas living at the same address around the time of the murder.
Hmmmm... What to make of it? Though I am wondering if he ever came back home to Nigeria in all those years. So what did he tell his relatives about the name change?; though he may never have had need to, since he had the audacity to still use his given name 'Bimbo' as an alias.
