The elusive search for a befitting Name for the "Green, White, Green"
The picture of the Nigerian Flag above and the comment below it, was one of my daily posts on Facebook Yesterday. The comments it elicited have set my mind in motion. For what? I don't know. But it will hopefully take shape soon...lol

Ugoh Ibezim The 'Union' signifies the federating entities of,England,Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland.the 'Jack' is old English for Flag.the stars in the US flag represents each of the federating states in unity and under one constitution.in the case of Nigeria wa/zo/bia is most appropriate note the distinctive parallel lines demarcating the flag meaning we against them, nobody gives a damn na chop I chop all the way, nobody send.Yesterday at 4:11pm · · 1
Mirabel Edozie @Ugoh, what becomes of the others that are neither wa; zo or bia. I think u need a name that represents all. In our complex society, it will be very controversial using a name like that.Yesterday at 4:17pm · · 2
Ugoh Ibezim @Mirabel,you are politically correct.the wazobia dichotomy is part and parcel of the Nigeria question for which the emergence of GEJ has failed to address.in my opinion to answer to that lies very much on a SNC.but make we leave the argument for another day.the issue at hand is what to name our Bi-coloured flag.Yesterday at 4:26pm · · 1
it has no name but its green and white colour symbolizes agriculture and peace.. That was when agriculture was our major source of income, like say na now e for be black and red, black for crude oil red for blood from militants and boko haram menace.Yesterday at 4:43pm · · 1
Eno Inyang Mirabel is spot on. My dream is of a Nigeria where tribe is not an issue. When you term people minorities, you demean a whole group and threaten to disenfranchise them from the entity called Nigeria, where each person should count. That flag may not portray the state of things currently, but in God we trust!Yesterday at 4:58pm · · 3
Theresa Ugwuanyi Maybe you can help us with the stories behind the names given to the flags by the countries you mentioned @Ohunene? Because I heard even the man who designed the Nigerian flag is not known by many neither has he been recognised by the FG..
Soni Akoji I pray my Professor don't ask this type of questions in my exams tomorrow morning o. The question o di too hard!
George Kobani Like Mike said its called the green white green. If it wasn't a frivolity at this time our flag should reflect our diversity (several stars?).
Mirabel Edozie "UNITED HOPE". At least 92% of Nigerians have one common factor- "hope". Hope for a better Nigeria tomorrow.23 hours ago · · 1
Davis Jessy Neo the flag is the best, just that we have a president who is not fit to even be local government chairman, as president
Nwaze Ogbonna Guys the office of the president federal republic of Nigeria has to be respected regards of who occupies it. It z unfair 4 some people 2 see GEJ as being unable 2 chair a local govt.21 hours ago · · 1
Aroke Paulitex @jessy if d president can nt be a local gvmt chair man den u go nd remov hm ther nd enter. Anuofi di ka gi,

At the end of the day I am convinced Nigeria's "Green - White - Green" as a name can evoke the same kind of feeling once the country is seen to be looking out for everyone. The US' 'Star spangled banner' and Britains 'Union Jack' have wide ...See More
